@helaineolen Your point is well-taken but even post-MeToo I wouldn’t say nil. Clearly a lot of ppl thought him worth endorsing even though his creepiness was an open secret.

What makes the Swalwell situation even more awful and confounding is that this is all occurring after MeToo. The odds of him getting away with workplace predation in the long run were nil. He's not just an (alleged) predator, but also an idiot.

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY has fought harder against Trump and the GOP than this guy. Let's reserve judgement until this plays out through the legal system. I'm 100% SKEPTICAL of anything Roger Stone is involved with, especially 4 weeks before an election. This smells rotten.

Eric Swalwell is not alone in mistaking the urge to defend oneself/one’s career for “strength.” This is not what we mean when we say we want Dems who will fight. He is a predator and should resign now.

My only comments on the Swalwell stuff before bed: A) the allegation(s) seems credible. and if it's credible it's bad enough that he should drop out. I guess he does deserve to give his side but it seems like he's done B) the conduct of certain influencers/operatives on here the past several days has been really disgusting and unbecoming of how anyone decent would handle accusations of something as serious as sexual assault. People were treating it like it was some sneaker drop or something, gleefully hyping it up. They could've easily waited the few days until the actual story was released. But they wanted the clout and to feel important. It really was gross. It gave me Tara Reade vibes, again. And made me feel less likely to believe the accusations when they were finally reported (responsibly) and seemed that it was coming from a place that was primarily concerned with getting at a political rival.

The longer I live, the more I become convinced that the only thing that matters in literature is the (more or less less irrational) shamanism of a book, i.e. that the writer is first of all an enchanter. - Nabokov to Edmund Wilson, 27 Nov. 1946

@AdamSchiff @mel_med_larson Mr. Schiff, this is more like shades of a hit piece. You Senators & Congress, need to be thorough regarding this matter. If this was happening to a Magat, they’d get away with it! Just look at that pig Tony Gonzales out in Texas who is still a member of Congress.

I have read the San Francisco Chronicle’s account and I am deeply distressed by its allegations. This woman was brave to come forward, and we should take her story seriously. I am withdrawing my endorsement immediately, and believe that he should withdraw from the race.
San Francisco Chronicle@sfchronicle

A woman who worked for nearly two years for Rep. Eric Swalwell, a leading candidate for California governor, said she had sexual encounters with him while he was her boss and alleged he twice sexually assaulted her when she was too intoxicated to consent. sfchronicle.com/politics/artic…

Democrats are weak as Fuck. Same as how we ran from Twitter when the going got tough is the same here. We will desert a candidate in a split second. Republicans know this about us. They saw what we did to Al Franken.
