My confidence and self worth haven’t been great lately and I just wanted to say thats ok so other people who suffer with depression or anxiety know that it’s ok to feel like that. I’m CEO of Happy Doggo and most people in positions like mine have to hide stuff like this. Most people in all positions In life do actually. It’s really hard to admit you don’t feel the best about yourself. That’s why I just write it down as I feel because maybe it’ll help someone. Between our team, partners and everything wrapped up in what I do there are probably 100+ people who rely on me. Add in social media, donors and everything else and that’s a massive happy facade to keep up. I’ve learnt though that it’s ok to say you are not ok. At the moment I’m going through the motions. Still working hard and trying my best but I feel a bit worthless. No self worth at all. I also have imposter syndrome. I know I can jus read the comments here or look at the dogs saved and I should be happy but it doesn’t bring me anything. I look in the mirror at the moment and can’t even really look at myself. No particular reason or spark for this. As people who suffer know it just comes in a dark wave like a fog. I could easily share some happy dog photos and smile and pretend I felt amazing. But I’d rather be honest and try to help others. I have untold amounts of support and good luck that many of you dont. So if you're feeling down or a little rough right now, that's okay because so am I, and it's absolutely fine to say that. Have a lovely weekend and be kind to each other ❤️

Chinese fishing vessel in Antarctic scooping up krill, right next to whales and penguins These ships track where the animals go to feed & take their food. The ship is Shi Dao, the same fishing vessel that was caught dumping oil into Fijian waters at a shipyard a few years ago.

🚨Walking my dog today during this SF heat wave, I ran into a man I see often who’s clearly struggling. His dog—desperate and overheated—started drinking my dog’s pee because he was so thirsty. I ran inside for water and he chugged three bottles. That should never happen. Where are the outreach teams right now? Where are the basic services during extreme heat? We hand out supplies for harm reduction, pipes, foil and straws—but where is the water when it’s this hot? This isn’t just about people. Animals are suffering too.

While we help so many dogs on a daily basis when I go to sleep at night I always drift off thinking of the dogs I’ve been lucky enough to meet that are no longer with us. Tina, Snoop, Jumbo, Alba, Coconut and the dozens others I’ve lost. There is one boy who always pops into that with his big warm face and gentle nature... Derek. There never was a more gentle boy. A more gracious dog. He loved his little suite at the land and his last weeks in my house were just magical to have him. He could have gone alone and on the streets but he left with his dignity and a head full of beautiful memories for me. ❤️

A few weeks ago I bought a nature reserve as it was at risk of being turned into housing. I’ve been massively stressed about it ever since as there’s so much that I need to do to maintain it. Seeing a photo of these deer that someone took on the reserve makes it all worthwhile.

WE DID IT! The 8 horses we all fought to save from WSU’s killing lab will be spared — the terminal surgical lab is CANCELLED! 🎉 Every call & email saved these lives! ❤️ We're now working on moving these horses to a sanctuary. We'll share info as soon as we have it ✨

I'm absolutely devastated! I've been saving my families 100 yr old China for my girls. Well, I'll be, after all these years she wants it! *Here's the devastating part-ALL of the China tests positive for LEAD! I can't even use it in the garden, the lead can leech into the soil. Anyone have any ideas besides throwing it all away? I can't in good conscience even donate it.
