Many of you have seen a bill filed in the NCGA that would increase teacher pay scales by $9,000-12,000 annually. H192 was filed by Rep. Erin Pare, a Wake County Republican, and now has significant bipartisan support. Below is our statement on the bill. It’s certainly a hopeful sign about what is possible in this session. We are ready to work with anyone who will take this issue seriously.

As North Carolina’s public education authority, it is our duty to ensure that our schools are cultivating excellence, and I believe these legislative priorities and budgetary asks support our mission at NCDPI and keep students at the center of our work.
