US soldier in movies vs US soldier in real life

Turkey as the last adult in the room? I know that information chaos, political interests and the fog of war do their part in distorting reality, but… …looking at all these reports, at the decision-making process in the US, at Trump’s and Rubio’s statements, at how Tel Aviv is convincing Washington to take various actions — one gets the impression that Turkey is the last adult in the room. What a different picture from just a few years ago, when 🇹🇷 looked at the world through the lenses of Mavi Vatan or its “adventures” in foreign policy. Of course, a lot has changed since then, for example: ✅ The EU gave Turkey a reality check, introducing a carrot-and-stick policy ✅ The economic costs of those foreign-policy “adventures” forced corrections, ultimately leading to the “Fidanisation” of Turkish foreign policy ✅ Trump introduced uncertainty about the previous alliance architecture and the Middle East order ✅ Israel sensed a “historic moment” to reorganise the region according to its own preferences Still, it’s hard not to appreciate the process of recalibration in Turkish foreign and security policy. For working purposes I would call it: from “zero problems with neighbours” to “the last diplomat” in the region.
