Defense. 1st and 3rd. If the catcher throws through, the first baseman needs to trail the runner, after catcher release (eat up ground) and the pitcher needs to sprint to first base. Early break rundown situation. Pitcher should step off, look runner back to 3rd, turn glove side and give the ball up to the 2nd baseman, the first baseman trails the runner and the pitcher sprints to first base. The first baseman trails the runner in both situations to allow the middle infielder the opportunity to catch and unload to first baseman (tag runner) before the runner at third scores.

The travel ball version of NIL. Organizations allow parents of the B, C, D, E, F, etc. teams to pay for the players on their so called A team. It's filthy. I believe in kids playing travel ball for free or reduced rates, but it shouldn't be based on ability, it should be based on genuine financial need.

Schools should not be involved with NIL. They should not be paying players. They should not have collectives. They should not be charging non athlete students more because of athletics. They should not be raising ticket prices and concession prices to pay players. They should not be begging for donations to pay players. But. Players should be allowed to use their name image and likeness to broker any deals they so choose on their own.

Infielders You have to be good enough to play shortstop in high school or travel ball at an extremely high level if you want to play infield in college. The majority of college infielders were left side infielders in high school (mostly shortstops) and can really play defense. If you're a high school 2nd baseman, 3rd baseman or RHT 1st baseman and don't have the ability to play shortstop in high school and travel, you're probably not a college infielder.
