@DJSnM failing that, I'd use process monitor to find accesses to the jpeg file from explorer. from an event in procmon, you can see the stack trace and look for any hooks causing the problem.

@DJSnM for instance, some audio "drivers" for my mobo injected a library which hung 50% of chromium-based software, found it pretty quickly this way

I've been trying to make a new video, but windows explorer now hangs when I try to do anything with jpeg images. I mean that's a pretty low bar for an operating system. I've disabled all third party shell extensions, rebooted but it works for a few images before locking up.
