Cease fire now

The execution machine has begun counting down… With the law passed in its three readings, Palestinian prisoners have been placed on a list of systematic death inside the occupation’s prisons. “They tortured us… they broke us…” — words spoken by prisoners who were previously released. Today, they are no longer just testimonies of pain, but are turning into a death sentence threatening more than 10,000 prisoners. How long will their voices remain unheard? The occupation is moving toward its harshest forms of brutality without deterrence.

My daughter Layan tells me: “Even if I see a flower in the street… I don’t go near it or smell it, because I’m afraid it might explode due to remnants left behind by the occupation.” With her simple words, Layan describes a harsh reality that children in Gaza are living—where ordinary things have become sources of danger. She talks about suspicious objects and explosives, like a little expert forced to understand things no child should have to know. Layan attended an awareness activity for children, where she colored drawings warning about the dangers of war remnants—trying to understand this threat… and avoid it. But the painful truth is that many children have lost their lives or their limbs because of these remnants, which were deliberately left inside homes—sometimes disguised as toys or food cans. A silent danger that follows our children everywhere… even in the simplest moments of childhood.

The word “PRESS” did not protect them it made them targets. They left as martyrs of the truth, but their images remain… reminding the world that sometimes a single word can cost a life. Peace to the soul of every colleague and friend in this photo. We will never forget them.
