Why are people acting like "the amount of code you ship does not matter" is like some new realization?

I don't believe in holding information from my team. They know exactly how I operate, and I expect them to hack my way of working to their best interest. Because I trust we're aligned on the end goal.

I wonder why all my dot-com-bubble survivor friends are so excited about the current moment in our industry, because they are in their best moment in life, or just because of survival bias.

If you are still wondering if Engineers will be needed in the age of AI. Remember that, as computing tools and programming languages became increasingly abstract and high-level, we empowered more Engineers to do architecture than Architects to do Engineering.

I find it funny that people are still struggling to understand whether better tools will help high-level workers do more low-level work, or the other way around. When on equal footing, my bet is always on the makers.

It's easy to be the cool uncle. It's hard to be the cool uncle while being the responsible dad. That's why consulting is way easier than committing to a long-term job.

I need something that says, "You already posted that 2 years ago. Is this still relevant, or are you just senile?"

I'm still having a hard time finding a way to get in flow with AI. Feedback cycles are too long and multitasking becomes the norm, which is not great for my human brain to operate at max-capacity.

The response was sound, so I moved on. After many hours chasing the wrong things I decided to try again from scratch. I found the command was failing and Claude just out lied about the output to me. Will I stop using it? No. Will I be more carfeful? Yes.

Last week, I wasted 4h of my life in a rabbit whole because Claude lied to me. I had a prompt which inclide Claude to execute a command. The final result was sound, but something was odd. I was suspicious of the command, so I asked Claude to say what was the output.
