Believe it or not a form of this government robbery already exists in Ireland 🇮🇪. We already have a highly controversial, specific tax on unrealised gains. This existing mechanism is known as the Deemed Disposal regime. Under Irish tax law, if you invest in retail funds, like Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) or certain life assurance products, you are subject to an automatic tax on your unrealized gains every 8 years. Even if you do not sell your ETF, on the 8th anniversary of buying it, the law pretends (deems) that you sold it. If the investment grew in value, you are hit with a heavy tax on those "paper" profits. The Rate: Following changes in Budget 2026, this exit tax rate is 38% (reduced slightly from its previous high of 41%). Forcing people to pay tax on money they haven't actually cashed out forces investors to either liquidate part of their portfolio or keep large sums of cash on hand, killing the power of compound interest. How long before this policy extends to everything you own, making it impossible by default to own anything of value. You will literally own nothing, as they say, but probably won't be happy about it.

A woman with full mental capacity, a first class degree and her own adapted home was placed in a nursing home an hour from her family against her wishes. Her condition deteriorated within two days. An independent barrister called it totally unlawful. The NHS said funding played no part. Someone is not telling the truth.

NHS paramedic Jules Trigg, 41, from Emsworth in Hampshire, has been diagnosed with incurable stage-four cervical cancer after visiting her GP 21 times over 18 months. She repeatedly reported severe nausea, sickness, bleeding and pelvic pain but was dismissed each time and told she had urine or kidney infections. All her cervical screenings had come back clear. The cancer was only discovered during a laparoscopy originally planned to investigate possible endometriosis; by then it had already spread to her abdomen and lymph nodes (stage 3C2). She underwent aggressive chemo, radiotherapy and brachytherapy, briefly saw the cancer shrink, but a scan in April showed it had returned and metastasised to her lungs and the lining of her abdomen. Jules, an emergency responder, said she is “no longer fighting for a cure but fighting for time.” She starts new palliative treatment this week. There is a GoFundMe set up if anyone can help if not can you please share the post thanks! gofundme.com/f/from-paramed…

Registered as a new patient at local GP surgery Call to make first appointment as down to last two weeks of medication supply. Offered an appointment for 10 days later to have a check up with the nurse, which is mandatory before seeing a doctor to have continuation of meds approved. Told I would be able to make an appointment at reception for the next day, meaning I’d have my prescription renewed in time. See nurse. Go to reception. Told I can speak to a doctor on 5th June, on the phone. Tell receptionist I was advised differently when making my appointment to see the nurse. Explained medication shortage. Receptionist cannot offer me a sooner appointment. So she sends a request to the clinic pharmacist and assures me it will be approved as I have used the medication for 6 years continuously. Miss a phone call. Check message at 6pm - it is the pharmacist telling me he can’t honour the prescription because I haven’t consulted with one of their GPs. It’s now a bank holiday weekend. Miss two days of medication and feel incredibly unwell. Call on the Tuesday and receptionist tells me to go to a pharmacy and explain. I tell them to contact the pharmacy on my behalf, because I will inevitably be told my medication cannot be prescribed without a doctor’s approval. Told it’s better if I phone because they don’t have my medical records yet. It’s been a month since I registered with them. I insist they make the call because I will lose my entire mind if I drive 8 miles to the pharmacy and get declined. This is happening because their staff did not advise correctly. Receptionist makes the call and assures me the pharmacist is expecting me. Go to pharmacy with proof of address, ID and last months prescription box. Listen to the pharmacist telling the assistant that it is my fault because I waited until the last minute to organise my prescription.
