A resident of Russia's Perm after the attack on local oil facilities:
I just can't understand how we could get into something like this again, after having survived the nightmare of war once before.
Comment from me: it's interesting that Russians are only realizing this now, four years into the war they used to approve.
While the war did not concern them, they were happy with killings of Ukrainians and destruction of Ukraine. Once the war came closer, Russians see no point in it.

Busy day for Russia's Perm. Local authorities said everything is fine, small drone debris fell, caused a fire and closing down of airports, absolutely nothing to worry about!

Seven people are currently being treated in hospitals in Dnipro after a Russian attack on the city. Five people have been hospitalized in Odesa, two of them in critical condition. One person was wounded in the Kharkiv region. Dozens of people have been affected by Russian strikes today. All are receiving the necessary assistance.
Last night alone, Russia launched more than 200 drones against Ukraine, most of them “shaheds,” and there were also ballistic missiles. Since this morning, there have been around thirty more attack drones. Strikes targeted various cities. In the Mykolaiv region, energy grid facilities were attacked, and thousands of families were left without electricity. In Odesa, residential buildings were hit. In Dnipro, a bus was destroyed, and a residential building, a shop, and passenger cars were damaged. There has also been damage from the attack in Zaporizhzhia.
It is important that our partners do not forget – this war continues every day, and security is needed every day. Russia must end this war, and only pressure can ensure that. Pressure must not decrease, and sanctions must work. I am grateful to everyone who supports Ukraine and Ukrainians.

One of the most cynical Russian war crimes is the systematic, calculated transfer of Ukrainian children, scattering them across Russia, concealing their fate, “reprogramming” their culture, and continuously, shamelessly subjecting them to militarization. It is vitally important to bring our children back home from there. Before the Russians break them. And every initiative, every activity, every effort that helps achieve this also helps Ukraine. I said this while addressing participants of the Civil Society and Expert Day.
Thanks to our Bring Kids Back UA initiative, we have secured 2,126 returns, and we will continue this work. We have engaged strong international mediators to help bring the children home.
I am grateful to every country that has joined our Coalition for the Return of Children. I want to thank every leader of the countries contributing to the effort, and every First Lady of countries that care and are concerned about the fate of abducted children. I thank our Bring Kids Back team. I am grateful to all diplomats, international organizations, and journalists who maintain focus on the rescue of children.

"Russians told us: if you try to escape, we’ll shoot you in the knees": Ukrainian teenagers abducted by Russia spoke in the Senate of Spain
Spanish Senate President Pedro Rollán Ojeda expressed support for Ukraine and stressed the need to return more than 20,000 children deported by Russia.
The officially confirmed number of Ukrainian children deported and forcibly displaced by Russia stands at no fewer than 19,546. However, the real figure may be significantly higher.
Particular attention at the hearing was given to testimony from Ukrainian teenagers who survived deportation and occupation. Their stories became a key argument against Russia’s narrative of "evacuation" and "liberation."
Ivan Matkovskyi from Mariupol described witnessing one of the most cynical crimes committed by Russian forces - the destruction of the Mariupol Drama Theatre, where civilians had been sheltering:
▪️ "Every time I talk about it, I see all those people I saw back then. There were people of all ages - kids, animals, elderly people who couldn’t even walk; they could only sit or lie down. There were thousands of civilians.
But despite the fact that only civilians were there, on March 16 a Russian aircraft dropped an aerial bomb on the theater, destroying it. After that, my older brother and I decided to leave Mariupol on foot for territory controlled by Ukraine."
▪️ "I saw Mariupol being destroyed... I lost 10 kilograms - we just wanted to eat and drink."
Another episode - "filtration" at a checkpoint:
▪️ "Russians forced me to undress. They examined my body to see if I had any tattoos with Ukrainian symbols - anything they could use to detain me."
After that, Ivan was separated from his family. Russian military threatened him and his brother with weapons in case of disobedience:
▪️ "We were told to wait for officials from the children’s services in occupied Donetsk to come for us. We tried to escape, but they began threatening us with weapons. They said that if we ran, they would shoot us in the knees."
In Donetsk, according to Ivan, Ukrainian children were promised a new life in Russia:
▪️ "They told me I would have a new family and a Russian passport."
Moreover, the children were forbidden from contacting their relatives and were effectively being prepared for transfer to Russian families or camps. No one cared that they already had families and biological parents.
Russia seeks to portray the deportation of children as a humanitarian measure. But testimonies like these dismantle that narrative, showing that this is a systematic policy of deportation, assimilation, and stripping children of their identity - one that is already being classified as an international crime.

When Putin dies, I’ll go to the newspaper kiosk, buy the first newspaper with such a headline, put it in the golden frame and hang in my living room

Best headline ever! On this day in 1945 Hitler died.

The grim battlefield math shows Russia is losing a record number of soldiers.
For the first time in years, Moscow’s Victory parade is about to take place without any heavy military equipment.
This tells a lot about how the war is going for Russia.
Next month, EU Foreign Affairs Ministers will continue the conversation on our approach to Russia, and how best to defend our security interests.

Trump: "Biden gave $350 billion to Ukraine. This was insane. It’s one of the reasons the war went on."
U.S. aid to Ukraine is not the reason the war continues. It continues because Russia invaded Ukraine and, every day, makes a conscious choice to keep waging war. If they all go home, we won't follow, you know?
If he means that without U.S. help, especially in the beginning, much more Ukrainian territory would have been occupied and turned into one gigantic Bucha, then yes, he's probably right. But occupation doesn't end war, it merely masks war crimes and silences the victims.
