There’ll be bullshit written by the truckload about the One Nation “surge” in SA. But it’s only split the right wing vote. It’ll get knuckledraggers like Bernardi into the occasional upper house seat, but that’s about it. The effect is to cement Labor in government.

Some days I’m particularly sickened by how numb our society has gotten to incessant depravity from Trump, how easily Americans brush aside his latest insanity and move on about their day as though we aren’t in the midst of a national emergency. Today is one of those days.
