Rethinking breast cancer treatment in ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS). Are some women receiving more treatment than they need? Led by Jelle Wesseling the PRECISION team has become a leading international authority, shedding light into which lesions may progress to invasive breast cancer and which ones won’t, which is driving a fundamental re-evaluation of how the condition is defined, treated (or not) and managed. Recent findings from the LORD trial, led by Jelle at the #NetherlandsCancerInstitute, and funded by #KWF Dutch Cancer Society and the @RisingTideGroup Foundation of Clinical Cancer Research, are supporting a more de-escalated approach to care for some of the women carrying a DCIS lesion. Together, biological insights from team PRECISION and emerging evidence from the LORD trial are enabling risk-adapted management of DCIS - reducing overtreatment and improving patient decision-making. #DCIS #BreastCancer #PrecisionOncology #CancerResearch
