i’ve written whole essays about how queer people and women specifically use fanfiction as a tool for exploring their identity, gender, sexual desires etc. that’s always been part of why fanfic exists and people with no idea about fandom history are now trying to police what people can write. it’s infuriating. i think a lot of you need to realise that people often write fanfiction to explore themselves and use the characters as tools to do so, and that's perfectly fine... it doesn't need to be a perfect exploration of the characters in align with how they behave in canon
