@Syzlak_ He wasn’t infringing until he was within 10m of the recovered ball. Doesn’t matter if he’s in an offside position when it’s kicked if he doesn’t have any influence on the play. So it wasn’t the first offense.

@pemackinnon Being in front of the kicker makes you offside. He was in front of the kicker, that is where the offence occurred and where the penalty was taken from.

@Syzlak_ He wasn’t offside until Weakes picked up the ball? Seems odd being held back wasn’t the first offense when the Canberra player didn’t offend until the ball was recovered by Weakes. I’ll take your word for it though.

@pemackinnon Offside occurs before any held back offence, which there was none. The 1st offence is always the one that is called unless it's a foul play offence, which held back is not.

@hasumpstuffedup great umpiring in #AFLGiantsTigers only 19 free-kicks didn’t impose themselves with tickytouch free-kicks, unlike 4 here at SCG; imposing themselves with 14 free-kicks in 1st qtr. Meredith the worst, he should have been retired after his 2016 GF disgrace.
