I believe One major downside is that it can weaken trust and emotional intimacy in a marriage. Marriage is suppose to thrive on openness, and when you constantly hold back your past, it can create distance or emotional walls between you and your husband. You'd always always worry, “What if he finds out?”....That pressure alone can affect how freely you relate with your husband. One thing for a fact is that, secrets tend to surface in unhealthy ways later, either through misunderstandings, third parties, or conflicts...and when they do, it may hurt more because it feels like betrayal. It is also true that discretion is wise. Not every detail of your past needs to be shared immediately or in full detail. The key balance is maturity: share what is relevant to your present life and relationship, and build trust with a partner who is emotionally safe enough not to weaponize your vulnerability. So the real risk is not “sharing too much” alone, but being in a relationship with someone where honesty is punished instead of respected.

My friend used to live close to my house, she was broke and shy at that time. No matter how hungry she was, she won't come to my place to eat or even tell, but I do find out she was hungry. We, on the other hand, have a freezer stocked with full chicken, pepper, and other proteins. So, at times, I would sneak out food for her. So on this fateful day, I promised her a full chicken, I told her to wait for me at our gate. Only for me to realise mummy was sitting at the spot where she would easily know what is going on in the house. I took the chicken and carefully shut the freezer, and then put it in the trash bucket and covered it with dirt. I pretended i wanted to dump the refuse. My friend was already waiting, she saw the chicken in the trash can with dirt, she cried, I cried and felt sorry too. She was grateful and promised never to forget my kindness, but even if she forgets, I will never forget.

Two days ago, there was a suspected gas or chemical leak in Ijebu-Ode. Several students and teachers across different schools, markets, and areas were affected after inhaling the fumes and had to be rushed to the hospital, with many experiencing difficulty breathing. As a result, some schools in the affected areas have been shut down. This morning, we started perceiving a strong, unusual smell in my area as well. I really hope it’s not the same gas spreading here. Whatever the Ogun State government is doing, I hope concrete measures are being put in place because this situation is honestly frightening.
