The biggest shout out to my wife, without whom this book would not be possible. Wrangling the kids and handling all the things at home while I was out all night in the wilderness isn't easy. The past four years don't happen without her, and I am infinitely grateful.

This book means a lot to me. Even if no one buys it, I'm 100% OK with that - I've gotten all the joy out of making the thing. BUT, if you did want to buy it, you can preorder it. It comes out Winter 2025.

If anyone wonders why I haven't posted today, I'm on a flight to Italy to co-direct the Operational Space Weather Fundamentals School in L'Aquila. From dusk to dawn, #Aurora has been my constant companion. It's my first time seeing it with my own eyes. Words do not do justice.

Shout out to @TamithaSkov - without her videos I wouldn't have gotten this shot of the aurora last night. It came just before sunrise in Apostle Islands, WI. I tweaked the brightness and contrast, but I didn't touch the color.

I exposed the foreground, the eclipse, and the sun spikes separately from the same location, and then composited them together after darkening the sky to add drama.

It was so cool to watch the moon slide across the sun's disc for nearly 3 hours today. People cheered at first contact, roared at the totality, and I stuck around till the bitter end to get this composite of photos taken every 15 minutes. #EclipseSolar2023 #EclipseSolarAnular
