I disconnected from "modern" MTG since I dislike the direction the game has been going, so I've been focusing on alternate ways to play that suit me. So here's the project I finished today: A set of Premodern decks to play when friends drop by.

@SF_crono @TolarianCollege I used the term "modern" with the meaning of "recent" Magic, not specifically talking about that format. But in general I dislike the crazy power and complexity creep going on, even more when combined with the huge amount of releases. Also not a fan of UB sets.

@Oshachutes Yes! They're usually Ux controlling lists that play a long game and go for big spells once Tron is assembled. UW is the most common version: mtgtop8.com/archetype?a=25…

@stickerbite A friend of mine was a huge Mardu Pyro fan, so he'll probably rebuild and bring that deck for us to play. Hollow One is very fun and was one of the decks I considered when building that box.

@Dauz_ucv I asked my friends "which decks do you want in this box" and WW was by far the most requested one. I think my friends have very good taste.

@phelpssan The shout out to WW is 😍😍 ... brought me back to my teenage years. I had a Aoldier themed standard deck who could actually steal games from affinity and goblins. Long live Onslaught block!

@0zone_o3 Kinda like an "MTG board game". "Just pick up deck and play". Formats like Premodern and Prefire that don't get new cards are very good for this since you don't need to make changes to decks very often.

@maryan_liah Also, most of the cash for this project came from selling cards I won't be using anymore (mostly MH stuff 😆).

@maryan_liah Premodern is weird because some decks are in the same price range as a Pauper deck, while others go for thousands. But since this is a 1-time spending and I won't need to keep upgrading these decks it works well for me.

@elcid1390 I'm lucky to have a group of close friends that enjoys MTG. Sadly adult life makes it hard for us to meet very often, but we usually manage a meetup at least once a month.

@idiothead25 @fireshoes Already have one. :) cubecobra.com/cube/list/bada… But getting 8 people for Cube can be hard, plus it can take several hours. So the Prefire/Premodern decks are a nice alternative when we're low on people or time.
