#ThrowbackThursday: Here's our Collins House from the late 1970s, and the same building surrounded by snow in 2023!

Happy Wednesday everyone! Or should we say, Happy Hump Day! 🐫 This is a wooden, hand carved camel toy. The animal has one hump, is hand painted a grey colour, and is slightly chipped.

Museum volunteers are busy packing our costume collection as we prepare for construction to begin for the Pickering Heritage & Community Centre! Thank you to our Nimble Thimbles volunteers for packing with such care! We are so excited for what's to come at our new building!

Have you heard about our upcoming exhibits? In Spring 2024, explore our two log buildings through 'Roots to Rebellion,' a new exhibition about the 1830s in Pickering. We will look at the lives of early settlers from a Black history perspective. #PickeringMuseumVillage

#behindthescenes at the PMV! A few weeks ago, we shared a look at our previous collection storage area in the admin building. This is the Conservation building's main storage area, where all those last shelves and items were moved to. Great job, team!

Another #behindthescenes look at the PMV@ Once the shelving in the center of the old storage room was cleared, our collections team was able to pull out all larger items that couldn’t fit in boxes off of other shelves located on the walls of the room in order to assess them.
