@TerribleMaps Can anybody from Turkey confirm that their people do, in fact, love Japan?

@ddawg169 @TonyLaneNV I appreciate the people who motion for me to go ahead and exit my row into the aisle. However, I usually just wave them on because I always have at least 2 kids with me and we take a little while to get ourselves together and to clean-up our seats.

@TonyLaneNV Don't fly much do you? The only rule....stay next to your seat....wait until the ones in front of you walk out. I've had shit heads try to push past...they don't get past me.

✈️ BE REAL… DOES THIS BOTHER YOU OR NAH? Plane just landed… doors still closed… and people already standing, reaching for bags like they’re about to beat everyone off the plane 💀 We’re all stuck here for a minute anyway… Does this annoy you… or you don’t care at all? ⬇️ 🇺🇸

@brucey00 @mmandommech @TonyLaneNV For your own comfort, you don't have to stay seated the entire flight. You're free to move about the cabin if the fasten seat belt sign is off.

@mmandommech @TonyLaneNV For another point of view, realize that some people want to stand up and stretch, in particular my back. By the time of landing I would have been sitting for a while. I actually dislike it when I'm stuck sitting and can't stand, and stand there by the window seat bending over.

@jsgoyburu @Shaw089 @onlineinsane That's what common core teaches kids, or is supposed to, so they understand the numbers and how they work.

@pineapplepusher @Shaw089 @onlineinsane most computers unfortunately do the standard algorithms because it is literally the most straightforward and easy way to do all this. and besides it's better than memorizing a shit ton of special cases for everything.

@BigEoghan @Shaw089 @onlineinsane Most of the responses arguing that they did it differently actually did use the same method. They simply broke down and grouped the numbers differently.

@jsgoyburu @Shaw089 @onlineinsane Once you get it, it is a short cut. When learning it, it isn't a short cut. It is the difference between understanding numbers and just memorizing a process.

@Shaw089 @onlineinsane First. I'm gay and old. What's up with that. Also, trying to teach the shortcut before teaching the way seems like a bad strategy.

@jeremiahjjohns @Shaw089 @onlineinsane But it isn't a short cut. It is a visual representation of grouping numbers by ones and tens so kids can see and understand how the numbers work. Once it clicks, they do it automatically in their heads and are much faster at basic math.

@Shaw089 @onlineinsane It's one thing to teach kids shortcuts to solve the problem. There are many of them and some work better for some people. But testing them on the short cuts instead of the problem is what's at issue.

@kathy29983 @Shaw089 @GracieValenti @onlineinsane But it is slower. That doesn't make it wrong, it just has more steps. My youngest is currently doing + and - of double digits. She has to show her work. She sometimes gets annoyed because she can solve it by grouping faster than she can write it out the old way.

@Shaw089 @GracieValenti @onlineinsane It isn't slower at all; we just learned to do it quickly because that's what math proficiency is. Meanwhile, the hard evidence of the dismal failure of your new "more efficient" methods is all around us. And don't even get me started on reading and writing...

@BespokeNukes @Shaw089 @GracieValenti @onlineinsane You can't check your work if done in your head. You also don't do the whole "carry the one" stuff faster. At work when people ask a math question, I do it the way Derek described. Others try the old way in their head. I'm faster and right 98% of the time.

Homeowner waits until construction job is nearly done—then calls ICE on 6 of her own workers. Woman even provides the ladder used by agent to detain men—who she owes $10,000 for 3 day job. "She called the damn law on us and now we're totally screwed!" men yell in Spanish. "They surrounded us!—They surrounded us!" Agents even left behind the workers' van with doors wide open—filled with thousands of dollars worth of tools. The arrest was broadcast live for about 30 minutes by a co-worker—identified as Bryan Polanco. "Seeing it is not the same as experiencing it," he explains. "I’ve seen many videos, and sadly today I had to experience it." At the end of the video he gets the woman who called ICE on camera: "It is the same woman. Tidying up the house, and still with hatred in her heart." The incident occurred in Cambridge, Maryland.
