If you're looking for another example of private equity ruining businesses, look no further than @carrier. We had our blower motor die and have been waiting over a week for a replacement part. A critical part required to provide heat in winter, and they don't keep it stocked.

I had it configured with another MDM to create account using Entra and passwordless and what I discovered (by accident) is that it actually creates the account with a blank password! 😬😅

@NathanMcNulty @plasticlicker @merill All I can say is, do NOT do this if you use Jamf Connect: It lets you Entra sign-in from the loginWindow; That includes using TAP and other options, which is great; But it completely breaks the account and will never let you sign on again (password incorrect). Ask me how I know.

@merill can you use TAP for passwordless onboarding new users on a Mac? If so, can you also device join during setup with TAP?

@plasticlicker @NathanMcNulty Yes. That's the flow. You can't get away from creating a local password unless Apple changes it to work more like WHfB.

@merill @NathanMcNulty To repeat back the process, the user creates a local password for the computer at onboarding. Then they use TAP to onboard to their MS account (which stores their PRT token to the Secure Enclave) and then are required to setup MFA.

@plasticlicker @NathanMcNulty With PSSO the recommendation is to use secure enclave (phish resistant) With secure enclave, Apple's design requires a local account and password. This is not the Entra password.

@wiliamsdarin @andreasrva Yes because limited supply increases demand and so those with more money (often those moving from more expensive areas) are willing to pay more for a scarce resource.
