Devconnect Argentina was more than just another crypto conference for me. It was a real vote of confidence from the @ethereumfndn in someone trying to connect smallholder coffee farmers in Kenya with the onchain economy through @ProjectMochaHQ . As a 2025 DevConnect Scholar, I carried a suitcase full of Kenyan coffee to Buenos Aires, spent the week learning inside the RWA, Regen, and DeSci community hubs, and got to share our Mocha journey with the Scroll ecosystem while finally meeting fellow Scroll DAO delegates IRL. I walked away with three things: deeper gratitude to EF for designing a scholar experience that centers people over hype, a stronger human network that stretches from and a clearer mission to keep building farmer‑aligned real‑world assets and to show up as a steward, not just a beneficiary. Satellite data + IoT isn't just cool tech, it’s an insurance policy for smallholder farmers. When we bridge the gap between high-res data and actionable crop management, we move from reactive crisis management to proactive food security. That’s the real ROI of innovation. This is the future I am building.

I believe the next phase of Web3 isn’t “more things onchain.” It’s better guarantees onchain: verifiable reserves, resilient governance, and clear execution rights. That’s how @ethereum moves from experimentation to infrastructure the real economy can rely on.

And governance is part of that trust layer too. If a DAO treasury can be manipulated through low-float voting and weak safeguards, the problem isn’t only governance, it’s product credibility. Capital won’t scale into systems that can be socially rugged.

RWA adoption won’t be decided by who tokenizes fastest. It’ll be decided by who makes trust programmable. Most of the timeline is celebrating “assets onchain.” The harder question is: can the market verify what’s backing them without asking permission?

Threads like this are why builders in Nairobi can confidently ship on L2 instead of waiting for ‘perfect’ infra. One question from the RWA side: what metrics would you track to assess whether an L2 is ready to secure tokenized agricultural assets that might involve regulators and farmer co-ops, not just DeFi degens?

The takeaway isn’t that Ethereum is moving away from L2s. The role of L2s is evolving. As the base layer scales, L2s can compete on customization, specialized environments, and new use cases, while still benefiting from Ethereum’s security.

Interoperability + secondary markets are huge, especially once you leave the treasuries bubble. For a Kenyan coffee token, we’d need cross-chain liquidity and consistent off-chain price feeds from auctions and exporters. How are you seeing teams solve the messy oracle layer for niche RWAs?

The future RWA market likely won’t live on a single blockchain. As per our latest research, the industry needs a multi-layer interoperability stack to connect tokenized assets across chains, creating an “internet of blockchains.” Which layer will matter most for scaling RWAs?

The split you describe is exactly where commodities could get lost in the shuffle. Ownership-first rails make sense for regulators, but smallholder coffee needs composability so local lenders, co-ops and exporters can plug into the same on-chain stack. Curious if you’re seeing any agri-RWA pilots that balance both?

Kenya just centralized coffee regulation under a renewed Coffee Board, aiming to raise farmer payouts from about 60% to 80% of auction prices and cut out rent-seeking intermediaries. Imagine if that new governance layer plugged straight into on-chain settlement so every shilling from the exchange to the farmer was traceable in real time.
