went to watch Supergirl yesterday. at the end of the movie i was confused bc i heard/read critics talking badly abt it while i liked it a lot, so i went to read some of said critics…turns out a lot of it wasn’t real critics, just misogyny. why am i not surprised?

supergirl is for WOMEN it's so satisfying to see a female character who is interesting and powerful with real internal struggles, a woman helping a girl just because that's what we do the movie has issues, sure, but so does most acclaimed superhero movies

I saw “Supergirl” in IMAX. It wasn’t a “superhero movie” about saving the Earth through self-sacrifice as “justice” confronts “evil.” It was a coming-of-age story about saving oneself, Kara, as she struggles with her own trauma. Structurally, it feels less like “Mad Max: Fury Road” (2015), where everyone is driven purely by survival instinct beyond notions of good and evil, and more like The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966), where heroes, villains, and scoundrels all converge.

Supergirl is a damn GOOD film especially when you don’t have any miserable people in your ear telling you it’s not 😌
