This reminds me of an experience that left me traumatized me for a long time. When I was 17, I got into a 6 months Agro program. Among our lecturers was a chief who was likely in his 60's. When the program ended, I decided to grow a plantain farm with the stipend I was given so that I could use the proceeds to further my education. I reached out to the chief to buy plantain suckers as he mentioned during a class that he owned a commercial farm. I traveled to PortHarcourt, visited the farm and was asked to return next day after the uprooting was done. The deal was N100K for 120 suckers and I paid the chief in full. On my way out, he offered to drop me off at a bus-stop. While on the long ride, he asked me about myself and why I have to plant a farm before I can go to school. I told him my story. He seemed impressed and commended me for being diligent and resourceful at that age. He went on to talk about his only daughter who was schooling in Germany. How he sold lands to send her overseas to school at the age of 14. He showed me her graduation photo and the big party they threw in Nigeria for her. He went on for long about how she is his biggest achievement etc. And then he talked about his lawyer wife. Next thing this man started caressing my thighs with one hand while driving with the other. Then he said he owns a hotel and that is where he is actually driving me to that he wants to sleep with me. Jesus. My heart sank. I respectfully told him I was not that type of person and I don't sleep with people and he said "that one concern you oh". My God I couldn't believe what was happening. All along, I thought I was talking to a mentor who would advice and encourage me. I had no idea I was with a monster. You can see how I am striving so hard to have a chance at life and be a responsible person. I traveled all the way, saved all the money I had gotten from the Agro program to buy plants from you so that I can have a business to further my education with. You just told me about your Doctor daughter in Germany who you gave the world. Yet you want to ruin another person's child. I prayed all kinds of prayer in that car. He drove to the hotel and asked a staff to prepare a room for us. While sitting near the parking lot, I was scanning everywhere on how I could escape. Luckily, his brother came in and they had to discuss something so he went inside the hotel with him. I signaled the staff to come take me to the room, pretended I was following along so the chief would be comfortable to leave us. I asked the guy to help me to the gate that I wanted to get something. That was how I escaped. I went to my friends place where I was supposed to sleep over. I was too traumatized to speak. Next day, I paid an elderly cousin who was a driver, directed him to the farm to go bring what I paid for. He got the suckers and we traveled back home. Even typing this is breaking me all over again. I can not comprehend how a person can molest another person's child. But his own daughter is a princess who he would give the world. Why will you do this to a child trying to help herself in life? Why?
