The only party heading up, is @TheGreenParty This is the people of the UK, giving politics one last chance to fix things, but they're not looking to Labour, or Tory to do it (they made the mess). Reform? Ha, fat chance! People want hope, not an import of MAGA! #Politics

@TheGoonerGoo I strongly advise against Isopropyl due to the risk of eye damage. Alternatives like Pentyl are far safer on that front. I would NOT be telling people that Isopropyl is 'beginner friendly'. It's basically the cheap & nasty option. If ya gonna use, use the good stuff!

A huge screw you to @AvantiWestCoast who operate Crewe Station, for embracing discrimination by re-signing the 'gents' & 'ladies' toilets to 'Male' & 'Female', expanding hostility to trans people. They have a page on their website banging on about pride. Actions speak louder.

@AceTheFemboi Ignore them. They think they know how the world works, but haven't a clue about the people in it. They embrace their own ignorance and scream hate at anyone who points it out, because it's easier to defend their own stupidity than to actually make an effort to educate themselves

@peg_roger @AndyBurnhamGM @afneil Yes, selling off the country has ultimately led to us being out-competed for access to the resources of our own country, driving prices up. Those who own those resources extract passive incomes. They get paid for being rich. And we're the ones paying.

I agree to a point. But a lot of the costs we face could have been avoided. Thatcher did sell off North Sea oil, but it was the right thing to do at the time. However, new licenses should have been brought back into public ownership and the revenues used to pay back debt and to increase overall future state pensions. Labour’s Net Zero is madness. Buying fracked gas from USA when we have it free under our feet. Those policies are choices, not related to the disadvantages of capitalism. Again, it shows we are only as good as our politicians. Not much hope for the future with the current crop.

He has no idea what he’s talking about. British national debt soared because: We needed to borrow a ton of money after the Great Crash of 2008. Labour wanted to borrow more. We needed to borrow more to keep the economy alive during Covid. Labour wanted to borrow more. We needed to borrow more post-Ukraine invasion to subsidise fuel bills. Labour wanted to borrow more. There. Fixed it. If he wants to be PM he’ll need to get up to speed fast on such matters. At the moment he sounds totally out of his depth (and debt!).

Andy Burnham says Britain is still “in hock to the bond markets” thanks to what he calls the four horsemen of the apocalypse: “Deregulation, privatisation, austerity and Brexit.” newstatesman.com/politics/uk-po…

@peg_roger @AndyBurnhamGM @afneil Yes, we indeed have a capitalist system. However, the naked neoliberalism we have, has clearly failed. It's done a great job of increasing the costs we all face, but if it was really going to benefit us, it would manifest as higher pay. On that crucial point, it's failed.

Everyone should have wage parity, and not be subject to one Union being more militant than another, or one public service being more crucial to another, in order to fight for higher wages. Regardless of what Public Service it is- Bins or Health- the bottom line is the Private Sector pay for 95% of it, including the taxes they all pay. Equality should not become a separate issue due to its political nature, or because it’s one sector over another. Too many ex public officials are in politics. That in itself makes life unequal. Burnham is typical of this. What has he ever achieved and measure that against his mistakes that have cost us all, not using a penny of his own money.

@peg_roger @AndyBurnhamGM @afneil I will agree that there is wastage. But I would also suggest that the rather large equal pay settlement might have had something to do with it (if we're still talking about Birmingham bin collections).

@rallicat @AndyBurnhamGM @afneil No But the incompetence and lack of real life experience from public sector officials is why our taxes are wasted all the time. If money wasn’t wasted the bin men would be paid properly.

@peg_roger @AndyBurnhamGM @afneil So it's a choice between a roof over your head, or having your bins collected. I don't /actually/ believe it's that binary of course, but neoliberalism can't be judged to be the right approach just because Birmingham Council went bankrupt.

That was 35 years ago. She saved the country from socialism. What you see in Birmingham today with the bin men you can multiply a 1000 times worse under Labour back in the 70’s. Time to change regulations - John Major - 6 years Tory Tony Blair - 10 years Labour Gordon Brown - 3 years Labour

Owned Andy. Labour created the 2008 shock not regulating the banks - Brown admitted this.👇 I would stick to being Mayor of Manchester where the Metrolink, built before you showed up, makes you look good. A double ticket of Rayner and Burnham would be a UK wrecking total disaster. bbc.co.uk/news/business-…
