The personal allowance has been frozen at £12,570 since 2021. In the same time your wages went up 18% to keep pace with inflation. Which means you're now paying tax on more of your income than ever while your actual spending power is lower than it was 5 years ago. This is called 'fiscal drag' and it's the reason you're working harder for less and feeling insane.

You can't get an NHS dentist in most of the UK anymore. The government pays dentists £23 per 'unit of treatment' while it costs them around £80 to deliver. So thousands of practices went private. You pay your taxes every month that are supposed to cover your healthcare. Then you wait 18 months for a slot or pay £80 just to be seen. It's broken.

90,000 hours. That's how long you'll spend working in your lifetime. If you stacked it all together it's 10 straight years of sitting at a desk, typing, commuting, and being told when you can eat lunch. At the end of it they give you a card and a handshake.

£169.50 a year to watch the BBC. You can't legally own a TV in this country without paying it, even if you only watch Netflix. The BBC pays its top presenters over £1M a year and they've been caught lying about basic facts for the last decade. Try not paying the licence fee and you'll end up in court. The presenters never face the same consequence for getting it wrong.

You say you'd do anything to leave your 9-5. But the price is spending your evenings learning instead of watching Netflix, failing publicly while your mates watch, and putting in 6 months of work before seeing a single £1. Most people want the result. Very few actually want the process.
