@kenmoriyasu ... that's not what China cares about to begin with. Taiwan, despite rhetorics, doesn't support the US like Jordan & UAE do. It's not really a security risk to China anyhow. The deindustrialization of Japan will continue. Brace for new sanctions.

A quiet, but notable change in language on Taiwan. The fact sheet says Trump and Takaichi "support" a peaceful resolution of cross-Strait issues through dialogue. In all past statements, leaders just "encouraged" such a path. It's not a change in policy. But I think the US and Japan are signaling to China that they would accept a peacefully-settled outcome, whatever that was. whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/20…

In light of yesterday's events, let's take a closer look at how the F-35 was tested for survivability against proximity-fuzed SAMs and MANPADs. 🧵

@6Voodoo Then don't hide losses. The F35 never made it back to base. It crashed in Saudi Arabia & a rescue chopper was in the area.

Anyone arguing that minor damage to a US aircraft, sustained while lollygagging over hostile airspace is an epoch altering event is arguing the US military is so strong that the mere damaging of one of its weapons is a great feat.

Submission and collaboration: In response to a fresh attack by the STG on the Druze militias in Suwayda, Israel bombed a number of positions in the Damascus countryside. Meanwhile, Syrian Ministry of Interior forces are allowing Israeli forces to enter Syrian territory unopposed, thereby comfortably expanding their area of operations. 🇮🇱 🇸🇾

Sri Lanka refused US request to land two fighter jets in Mattala - You don't need to be big and strong to say NO to a superpower bully. You just have to have some morals with a spine.

@teortaxesTex War -> market crisis -> increased exports -> increased imports -> meaningful investments to meet war demands -> bigger, better war -> repeat. This is a self sustainable circle.

@teortaxesTex Iran is close to figure this whole thing out. There problem is (was) that it had an elected gov stuck with "how to develop the economy". The answer is simply, as it turned out - the only econ model that actually works is... Jihad. War boosts export, import, & investment.

@richmomz @MianAliAshfaq ... to causality magic then, along with 4-5 THAADs, a dozen radar stations, a destroyer with a 🔥 signature that could be seen by wild fire satellites in space, and a burning carrier went back for repair.

IF the F-35 is hit, that means all American jets can be hit. Clearly China or Russia sending the Americans a signal.

@Paktyaw4l Still this wouldn't possible if you don't have secure communication, which Iran previously didn't have. This time around, their communication is restored, presumably with help.

@Paktyaw4l This is a low tech solution to target stealth jets. Basically you spot the jet, and set up an ambush in the direction of where it's going, in this case with some IR missiles. This is why it's dangerous for US jets to go in. So they prefer to attack with standoff weapons.

IF Iran can shot down F-35, wondering whether Russia and China (who are taking notes) have any difficulties to take them out.
Gandalv@Microinteracti1

The F-35 was supposed to be unkillable. That was the whole point. Lockheed Martin spent thirty years and four hundred billion dollars, the most expensive weapons programme in human history, building an aircraft that the enemy simply could not see. Not on radar. Not on infrared. Not on anything. The F-35 was not just a fighter jet. It was a theological statement. America’s way of saying: we have moved beyond the reach of your missiles, your sensors, and your prayers. Iran apparently didn’t get the memo. Somewhere over Iranian airspace on March 19, 2026, an IRST system, infrared search and track, the kind of sensor your grandmother could probably explain, looked up, found the F-35, and locked on. Not because Iranian engineers are geniuses. Because the F-35, it turns out, is extremely hot. All that engine. All that thrust. All that carefully sculpted stealth geometry, and the bloody thing glows like a kettle. The heat signature data Iran now holds is not just embarrassing. It is a gift that keeps giving. To Moscow. To Beijing. To every procurement ministry on the planet that has been quietly wondering whether to spend the money on systems designed to kill this aircraft. The answer, as of this week, is yes. And here is the bit that should really worry the Pentagon. You can patch software. You can redesign coatings. You cannot reprogramme a pilot’s brain. Every F-35 driver who takes off from here on knows, actually knows, that someone down there might be able to see them. That changes everything about how they fly. Caution replaces aggression. Hesitation replaces instinct. Four hundred billion dollars. And in the end, it was done in by a heat sensor. Tremendous. Gandalv / @Microinteracti1

Q: Did Iran hit an F-35? A: I don't know. Q: Can an F-35 be hit? A: Yes. Any aircraft that flies can be tracked, engaged, damaged, even lost. That’s the reality of air combat! Anyone claiming "invincibility" is lying. Case in point: F-117 over Serbia, 1999. 1/2
