The girls' zombie-like movements in the first episode of Zombie Land Saga make sense; their zombie forms reflect their last actions before dying. As shown in Episode 1, we see the mindless zombies (excluding Sakura at that point) wandering around the basement where their daily meetings are held. While it's easy to assume they're just aimlessly wandering, like typical zombies, it's worth noting that each member of the group performs specific actions based on what happened to them when they died. • Saki, who died in a motorcycle accident, extends her hands horizontally as if she were gripping the handlebars. • Ai, who died center stage during an outdoor concert when she was struck by lightning, tries to reach the center of the room as if she wants to sing the end of the song she was performing at the moment of her death. • Junko, who was tragically killed in a plane crash, tries to grab onto the bars of the cell in the room as if she were looking out and screaming from the plane window. • Yugiri is also the only one who doesn't have her arms raised and her head forward. This is because she's leaning her head against the wall, as if preparing for her decapitation. • Lily, who died of a fatal heart attack due to stress from her father (and also because she was about to enter puberty), is standing by the bedroom door as if waiting for her father, Takeo. The only ones not shown are Sakura and Tae, although the latter appears to be the most zombie-like, attacking anything that moves, as if she's reliving her Sagako Busters days. The reason their bodies behave this way is that their deaths were caused by tragic events; these events were imprinted on their muscle memory, and therefore, they remain conscious within their bodies. This behavior remains latent within them and is only activated when they receive the appropriate stimulus. Their bodies are capable of recalling past traumas or events, such as when Sakura lost her memory but could still perform Arpino's choreography. The same occurs with their past traumas, as demonstrated in episode 11, when Ai's instinct protects her head from the metal poker Sakura grabbed to defend herself (ref. episode 11, 3:32). - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - While this is a rather interesting theory, it hasn't yet been shown in the anime how true it might be. There are still details about the zombies that we don't know, but what is certain is that the girls' bodies retain properties related to their deaths that affect their memories (as in the case of Tae and Sakura). When Tae lost her memory of being in Franchouchou in her zombie state, her memories being replaced by her personality, everyone comforted her by saying that Sakura had already gone through something similar. This could very well be an intentional foreshadowing. #ゾンビランドサガ #zombielandsaga
