@DeadlineDayLive what? they want big money for a big player. he’s the one claiming he’s gonna sit out until he gets the move he wants. why should they sell him for a lesser price, when they’ve also had a bad window and would be losing their best player by a mile?

@Tinezz03 @TeaKupps the point is that the completion isn’t nearly as close as haalands is on paper. i still think messi should’ve won it tho

For some context, R9 had 10 goals and 5 assists in the entirety of 2002 and yet won the Ballon d’or comfortably and no fuss was made about it whatsoever. Messi had 38 goals and 25 assists in 22/23 and most people still run the narrative that he somehow didn’t deserve it lol

@ppllkkjjI @lightfinisher those aren’t his best performances by any stretch but how many countless times did messi crash out in quarters without having enough impact on the game? being decisive in quarters and semis means you don’t have to go 5/5 in finals to be successful.

@reecee866 @lightfinisher He should have lost 2016 and 2018 with his semi final and final performances if he had it like messi. Even 2008 he missed a penalty in both..

Messi with everything he has achieved in his career still underachieved by his own standards is my opinion. He should have won UCL - 2010 - 2012 - 2019 WC - 2014 Final Copa - 2015 - 2016 Thoughts?

@reecee866 @lightfinisher What should this prove? It's really similar for most part with 11/12 messi, insane amount of goals and assists but the difference is ronaldo receiving more help in the actual tough games

@reecee866 @lightfinisher You can definitely understate ronaldos impact in the biggest games meaning semi finals and finals outside of 2017

@ppllkkjjI @lightfinisher messi wasn’t “unlucky” apart from maybe 2019. ronaldos impact in each of his ucl wins can’t be understated

@reecee866 @lightfinisher Ronaldo already used his luck and talent and even more to win them later so it's not the same

@BarcaWorldwide that isn’t what derailed his career. he was injury prone regardless. he wanted to be the player that he was, not who he was at barca. people forget when messi was injured neymar carried that barca team and truly shined

@DiegoRibas97 glad someone understands this. 17-18 messi is actually his best year (post his athletic prime of 2010-11) but id argue he was even better in 17-18. him and ronaldo were both disgusting that season but messi’s season got slept on

this game actually describes the whole landscape of 2010s so well. Messi despite all the challenges & difficulties dropping an all-timer 10/10 performance against all odds meanwhile ronaldo in his own yard got locked by umtiti, dropping a stinker for ages in the process.

@TeaKupps his talent is definitely underrated, but it’s not a slight to say he isn’t naturally as talented as them. is he a better player than dinho and r9? Yes but that’s bc his athleticism and freakish abilities come into it, but down to a fundamental level he’s 4, in history he’s 2 tho

Most people undervalue Cristiano’s talent. Being a physical freak who can run as fast as he does, strike the ball with both feet, jump that high and also dribble is absurd. Cristiano fans are responsible for this as they downplay his talent and attribute everything to hardwork.

@DiegoRibas97 for the first two it’s simply the era they played in. no disrespect to pele, but does he score 50+ goals over multiple seasons in todays game? no disrespect to maradona but the argument against him is just messi. someone with his dribbling but better, with EVERYTHING else

@DiegoRibas97 he just changed his role to work around suarez and neymar. if anything it speaks to his level that he’s able to change his role and contribute whilst still putting up a stellar statistical season. bad take

Messi 2014/15 is NOT Messi's peak. While playing arguably the most aesthetic football of his career, if you compare it to 2011, he's clearly worse individually, relies more on his teammates and lacks some kind of power and aggressiveness compared to other versions of himself.
