Student loan debt shouldn’t follow you forever. Alongside Congresswomen @rephaleystevens, @repadams, and @repdeborahross, I introduced the Clean Slate Legislative Series—a suite of bills to help borrowers who have worked to get back on track remove default records from their credit history. This is about second chances. About giving people the opportunity to buy a home, start a business, and build the life they deserve. We’re taking action to ensure student loan debt doesn’t continue to hold millions back.

Addressing the maternal health crisis requires action—and that means investing in solutions that meet mamas where they are. That’s why I introduced the Tech to Save Moms Act—part of the #Momnibus—and the Advancing Maternal Health Equity Under Medicaid Act, two bills focused on expanding access to care, strengthening maternal health services, and improving outcomes for mamas and families. From leveraging technology to close gaps in care to strengthening Medicaid’s role in covering maternal health services, this work is about ensuring mamas in the #FightingFifth and everywhere have access to care—before, during, and after pregnancy. Because when we invest in maternal health, we save lives.

Republicans just blocked an effort to rein in Trump’s unauthorized war.   Let’s be clear: this was a chance to put guardrails on a president who dragged this country into conflict without Congressional approval. Republicans chose loyalty to Trump over accountability to the American people.   The majority of Americans don’t support this war. There’s no clear strategy, no end in sight—and yet Republicans refused to act.   This is what unchecked power looks like.

Corruption has no place in our democracy. We're launching the Anti-Corruption Task Force to hold this administration accountable and protect our elections. This is about transparency, accountability, and defending every American’s right to vote free from fear and intimidation.

This Tax Day, refunds are being eaten up by rising costs. When money is tight, scams and hidden fees hit harder. The CFPB protects consumers—but Trump’s FY27 budget slashes it by 75%. We should be strengthening protections, not weakening them.

Too many mamas are navigating pregnancy and postpartum care without consistent access to the support they need. That’s why I introduced the Tech to Save Moms Act—to expand telehealth, invest in digital tools, and connect mamas to care in the #FightingFifth and across the country. We must use every tool available to save lives.

During #BlackMaternalHealthWeek, we’re highlighting maternal mental health. Black women are 41% less likely to start treatment for maternal depression, and up to 40% experience postpartum depression—twice the rate of white women. I’m proud to uplift the Center for Black Women's Wellness and their work supporting Black mamas beyond birth. As we reflect on the #InHerHonor memorial paintings honoring Black mothers lost, we’re reminded that these losses could have been prevented—and that support must extend beyond delivery.

On Yom HaShoah, we remember the six million Jews and the millions of others murdered during the Holocaust. We honor them by refusing to be silent in the face of antisemitism and hate. In the #FightingFifth and across our country, we must never forget.

During #BlackMaternalHealthWeek, we’re confronting the barriers too many Black mamas face when trying to access care. In Georgia, 34.6% of counties are maternity care deserts, and 15.8% of women have no birthing hospital within 30 minutes—leaving too many without the care they need during pregnancy. No matter your ZIP code, no matter your bank account, your outcome should never be determined by access. That’s why I’m uplifting the Georgia Health Policy Center @GSUGHPC and @HMHBGeorgia , who are expanding access and showing what equitable care looks like for Black mamas.

During #BlackMaternalHealthWeek, we’re shining a light on the people changing outcomes for Black mamas. Black doulas and birth workers provide critical support, advocacy, and culturally grounded care that improves outcomes for mamas and babies. This is what protecting Black maternal health looks like. I'm proud to highlight @DoulaCollective @mamasarahn @BlackDoulas and their work in the #FightingFifth and beyond.

This is what a public health crisis looks like. Black women are 2-3x more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than their white counterparts. Black mamas deserve to come home safe. Far too often, they don't. #BlackMaternalHealthWeek is about awareness, accountability, and action—shining a light on a crisis that is preventable and long overdue for change.

Budgets set priorities and Trump’s budget couldn’t be clearer. It pours billions more into defense, border security, and law enforcement while cutting the programs our communities rely on: Small businesses. Education. Even Minority Serving Institutions that serve students here in Georgia. This means cuts to care. Cuts to opportunity. Cuts to the future—that’s real people losing access to opportunity, support, and stability. We should be investing in our communities, not taking from people to fund more punitive systems and enforcement.
