Episode 5 was….. wow.
I am, honestly left speechless here.
Like just on its own, this kinda felt like… a masterpiece?
I mean beyond the director and cinematographer deciding to play in our face and show us they can look just as masterful as the Netflix show if they wanted to THIS ENTIRE FRICKIN TIME, the writing was just firing on all cylinders.
Like the entire theme of this episode is finding the strength to see the humanity in people you consider monsters, which is much easier said than done. Matt learning to show mercy to Bullseye and relinquish his hate thanks to his memories with Foggy, Buck’s twisted relationship with his brother, and everything that happens between Fisk and Vanessa- these two HORRIBLE people who’s done awful things- you can’t help but show some empathy.
Vincent D'Onofrio delivers perhaps his greatest performance as Wilson Fisk… ever? Like I actually cried watching this, which I wasn’t expecting AT ALL. Extremely heart wrenching.
