We are back in podcast land! Not yet starting series 4 but as a prelude we review King Offa of Mercia, the eighth-century monarch who built a famous Dyke, corresponded with Charlemagne and was almost the first King of England pod.fo/e/398d43

@kevinmartinryan Yes, I think we’ll do a little introductory episode for the series which will go through that.
English

@rexfactorpod Are you going to announce up front who the nearly monarchs are? Or at least how many there will be (so it will be like an advent calendar)? Or is it open-ended? Anyway, looking forward to King Louis

@rexfactorpod listening to the latest now. If you do pre-Alfred Anglo-Saxons or Scandinavian monarchs, will you be starting with Odin? IIRC all the Anglo-Saxon dynasties traced their ancestry to him. Would make for a good one-off like the Aragorn or Game of Thrones episodes. 1/

@LennyGoodnight In hindsight, she would definitely have made for a better fit in series 4 than 3. Not sure about parachuting her into the series 4 play-offs, though, feels a bit unfair on the rest of them?

@rexfactorpod I’m going to pitch an idea you’ll probably shoot down: Æthelflæd should be entered in the Series 4 playoffs. No way you could’ve known when you did her episode, but she fits that series much better, as Alfred’s eldest child, running what is essentially a 1/
