Naučen sam odmalena da ljudi ne mogu biti ponosni na stvari koje nisu rezultat njihovog zalaganja. Nacionalnost, etnička pripadnost, boja kože, spol - to su stvari koje su nam uglavnom unaprijed predodređene (iako se tehnički nacionalnost može promijeniti, a po novome i spol) - ja ne mogu biti ponosan na to što sam Hrvat. To je jednostavno tako. Ne mogu biti zbog toga ni ljut ni tužan ni sretan ni ponosan. Zato meni nema previše smisla busanje u prsa hrvatstvom i općenito cijeli domoljubni folklor. Znam da sam mogao biti rođen bilo gdje, ali ja bih opet bio ja i borio bih se za iste vrijednosti za koje se borim sada i ovdje. Svejedno, zahvalan sam što sam rođen baš tu i što sam u Hrvatskoj - upravo zato što znam da je to lutrija. Svatko od nas je imao bar 60 posto šanse roditi se u nekom dijelu svijeta gdje su mogućnosti puno gore, gdje je puno manje opcija i odakle se jako teško izvući. U Hrvatskoj nekome može biti vrh, nekome dno - ali onaj kome je tu dno uvijek može izabrati exit bilo gdje - i ima mogućnost veću od 90 posto ostatka svijeta da to ostvari. Mislim da ne trebamo biti ponosni što smo Hrvati - trebamo biti zahvalni. Moglo je biti puno, puno gore. U većem dijelu svijeta ja bih gulio doživotnu robiju ili me odavno ne bi bilo, samo zbog sranja koje tu pišem. Ljudi toga nisu ni svjesni.
