I remember 2008, when Anni won, we gathered at Raalhugandu to watch the sunrise to Aneh Dhivehi Raajje. And I remember the “leaders” who came, trying to claim it as their victory, until the people pushed back, took the mics and let the music play. Because even then, we knew, as we do today. it was never their win, but the people. Today feels like that moment again. So let this be clear, this is not the win of any one person, party, or faction. This belongs to the people who showed up, even while fed up, and said #nufeney. This is not a moment to factionalize and sideline, we must work together with everyone, us this as a window to earn back trust. If this is truly a win, then let the only real winners be the people. Through honesty, transparency and hard work of those who got elected.
