@ISAMU_MkII I don't think it's wrong to call arcade games computers. It's not a personal computer so I wouldn't use the term 'computer cafe', but even something that's just a circuit board and ROM can be a computer. The machine in the picture is even called 'Computer Othello'.

@hankgreen Given that 'AI' is a nebulous term with plenty of the usual spurious tech hype surrounding it, I can't really say. I'm sure that there's plenty of money to be made in convincing the market that it's the next big thing, regardless of whether it actually is.

@Thdark101 I've always felt that katakana with its loan-words was the more difficult part of the writing system. I guess that that's because it's the part of learning Japanese where all the first-language interference is concentrated - the familiar but different to trip me up.

Is it common for a Japanese learner to have have more difficulty trying to read loan-words in katakana than actual Japanese words...? I feel like it I have to re-read a new katakana word like 4 times to figure it out, even if it's ostensibly an English word I should know 😣

@kitty_bit_games If I were immersing myself in Japanese food culture that was vegetarian then there's always things like shojin ryori? If I was looking for a restaurant with vegetarian/vegan options in Japan then I'd probably do a search on HappyCow. Just like I would in cities anywhere else.

@callistoroll Food is at the heart of culture, it should be accepted and enjoyed as it was intended by the originators within said culture. If you don't want to immerse yourself and respect said culture, Japan has Denny's and their McDonald's even has unique stuff, they even have Taco Bell
