This is why I said that Invention is probably John K.'s magnum opus.
It took much longer to produce than any other episode in Season One, and Nick almost rejected it. So we're blessed with this masterpiece.

So I watched Stimpy’s Invention for the first time in full last night (late, I know) and erm… this is a masterpiece of american animation. Everything that makes a good cartoon work, all the fundamentals and theories, they’re all here and in perfect harmony.

The episode ended with a massive cliffhanger meant to lead into Season 4, but the TV series was ultimately canceled
An 8th movie is in development and will connect to the series’ end
