Moroccan footballer Anwar El Ghazi has won his lawsuit against Mainz 05 after the club terminated his contract over his public support for Palestine. The regional court in Rhineland-Palatinate ruled that the termination was unlawful, stating that his post “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” falls under freedom of expression. As a result, Mainz must pay nearly €1.5 million in compensation. El Ghazi announced he will donate €500,000 of that amount to support children in Palestine.
