@stirpicus My first GDC I had a student ask me to look at their portfolio. We sat and talked for an hour about his work and the game industry. Eight years later he was part of my interview panel for a job I really wanted. Genuine connection is always more valuable…also, I got the job.

More than 6,000 people lost their jobs making video games this year. My #TheGameAwards speech might be eight years old, but it still sums up everything I’d want to say to those who were laid off and made our games this year. Your work is worth it. Thank you.

@Ashdown_BNG Moved 4 times. All have a budget that covered all expenses and I was reimbursed for everything. Ask for temp housing for at least a month or a scouting trip to secure something before the actual move.

I don’t get much engagement on here so any answers would be great. Where do you find joy using this app? I try to justify staying on here but every time I’m on it feels like sinking deeper and deeper into a depressing pool of quicksand.
