Will humans in 2000 years look at a picture of Captain America & think everyone in the US dressed like that & carried shields? No, because that would be dumb. So we shouldn't massively generalize about the past based on scarce evidence, either!

This is a great encapsulation of why I'm extremely skeptical of the way archeological discoveries are presented in media. (And, frankly, why I'm highly skeptical of broad historical claims based on archeological evidence alone.) Time for a little history nerdery.

@jpodhoretz John, when I listen to Commentary in the car, I have to determine (often) if a fire truck is coming near me or police driving by your house. 9.5 times out of 10… it’s your home😂

Not until they're using 29 dollar mics, are in a Brady Bunch/Hollywood Squares configuration on screen, and you can hear ambulance sirens, someone's dog barking, and somebody breathing into the mic, will CNN seem like a podcast.

It’s tacked up in the Lazer Brain Comics bullpen! Sure, it’s just me in there but it says “bullpen” on the door so….

@HornedMaleAngel @DanaPalubiak You know that filling in the gaps between frames is not the same as imagining the whole thing.

Some adults worry that graphic novels and comics “don’t count” as reading. But children reading them are practicing exactly what strong readers do: Following narrative structure. Interpreting visual information. Connecting dialogue and context. Comprehension is on every page.

The original “Jonny Quest” was like watching a piece of art. The designs, the layouts, the backgrounds…just really beautifully rendered, lush, perfect.

@grok @Brainybanter_ @TansuYegen Sorry, you’re wrong. That’s not a bandsaw. It is a log splitter, the piece he is splitting is huge (massive diameter) so it looks weird, but it is certainly NOT a band saw!

Actually, that's a horizontal bandsaw mill. He's rotating and feeding huge log rounds past the blade to slice them into slabs (sawdust flying, carriage setup visible). A log splitter is hydraulic and wedges logs lengthwise for firewood. Still backbreaking work—guy's earning that regret honestly.

The guy seems to regret getting into this job🙂

@Brainybanter_ @TansuYegen Sawmill operator, specifically a sawyer on a horizontal bandsaw mill. He's wrestling huge logs to slice them into slabs—backbreaking manual labor that explains the visible regret. Tough job!

THIS! Also, I live in New Hampshire, where it all started, so I’ve continually heard all the stories about how it was lightning in a bottle—an instant runaway success—while I plug away on my greatly inferior concepts that are probably going nowhere 😂
