I was delighted to facilitate today a final AI governance briefing in Geneva, co-hosted by Kenyan and Costa Rican UN Missions, with the Simon Institute. Terrific to have Renata Dwan from EOSG OSET and Ambs Enestrõm and Milambo, co-facilitators of the GDC negotations in New York.

Very sad news. The Queen has been part of the fabric of our lives and the exemplar of public service. I was most fortunate to have had the opportunity to meet her on a number of occasions, and have very fond memories of her personal kindness and occasional wry sense of humour.

Looking back, this was an innocent and optimistic moment - the terrorist attacks of 9/11 would follow in New York ten months later, and then divisions at the UN over the Iraq war. Despite such multiple challenges Kofi @KofiAnnan has left us a remarkable legacy.

So sorry to hear that Kofi Annan has just died. He truly lived up to the ideals embodied in the UN Charter. It was such a privilege to work for such an inspiring person and I am so grateful for his support and encouragement after I left the UN. My thoughts are with his family.
