My company Newson Health is funding a PhD student at Liverpool John Moores University to research the effects of perimenopause/menopause on mental health, specifically suicidality. As part of the research, we are looking for women who have experienced suicidal or self-harming thoughts/behaviours during their menopausal transition for a short online interview (30 mins). The objectives are to develop a method to identify perimenopausal/menopausal people at suicide risk and to identify appropriate and beneficial treatments for them. We hope this research will highlight the severity of menopausal mental health symptoms and help how those experiencing them are treated in healthcare.
