Canada’s deficit went from 78B to 66B. How come nobody is talking about this? Canada is literally winning right now and all I’m hearing is @MarkJCarney is putting us in a deficit hole. Canada is a resource rich country. This gets better. Canada is long term bullish. 🚀

@CanadianCoffey As they should. Voting for deferred taxation (debt funded tax cuts) purely for vote buying would be a truly dumb idea.

Fun Fact: 95 conservative MP’s voted against the middle class tax cut last year. 230 Liberal, NDP, and Bloc MP’s voted for it.

@CanadianCoffey Everyone knows liberal policies hurt the lower middle class the most. They just gas light them hand them a few pennies back to them, not rocket science

@Smileyyeg Why are you saying that? It is not true, and you know it. You have zero integrity, you just say lies without any proof.

@Myself9752465 They're measured differently. Also, you buy on prices, not inflation. Canada is dead beat in that regard.

@CurtisDer Americans haven't made their relationship with Canada their core personality. Their decency towards us is unaffected. On the other hand.........

Of course we would not jump in to sing the American anthem. There are consequences to what they have done to us, said about us. Fuck off with that.

I'm going to be blunt here. When it comes to the economy. I don't know about you, but don't you think it makes more sense to follow and trust the advice of a qualified economist ( PM Carney ) over following the advice of a guy who pretends to be one on TV ( Pierre Poilievre ) ?

@CaptainDick12 Air Canada studying the terrible notion of expanding airports? Any idea why that might be?

2 studies done by Air Canada and a consulting firm have proven expansion of Billy Bishop Airport is a terrible idea. It would increase traffic by 400% in downtown Toronto, destroy the harbour front inside and outside the island, increase pollution and devalue condos further.

So, yes Stephen Harper and the CPC had six consecutive deficits and added ≈$150 billion to Canada's debt from 2006 to 2015. Jean Chrétiein had nine consecutive surpluses and removed ≈$90 billion from Canada's debt...
Jason Grant@BigJGrant

@redsnoopy69 Canada weathered the World Financial crisis in 2008 because of Harper. Every year after that year the deficit lowered until Harper was voted out with a small surplus. Context is everything and you either ignorantly or purposefully left it out. Which is it?

Canada's New Sovereign Wealth/Debt/Slush Fund Wow just Wow: what's next Digital Currency? Turns out Carney proposed this Fund idea to Trudeau 2 years ago when he was at Brookfield I believe this is a dumb idea: let me break it down

I’m so pleased with what PM Carney is doing! It’s EXACTLY what Canada needs to grow and prosper. As we slowly reduce our dependence on the US, we’ll be in a much better position to weather future economic impacts with more, and more diversified, trade partners.

@dogmatta The initial seed money $25 billion comes from taxes already being collected and will be invested in Canadian mining, agriculture and energy projects. Which would have happened anyway. Future voluntary investment would be no different than investing in a government bond.

“It’s actually a debt fund that’s going to be paid by Canadians against their will.” Somebody put Lantsman’s helmet on too tight. This is a blatant lie. It’s really all they have at this point.
Scott Robertson@sarobertsonca

Melissa Lantsman: "It's not really a sovereign wealth fund. In order to have a sovereign wealth fund, you've got to run a surplus. It's actually a debt fund that's going to be paid for by Canadians against their will."

Sassy social media commentary aside, Canada has fought harder and more successfully - often at higher cost - to defend its national sovereignty from invasive Trump demands than has Mexico under President Claudia Sheinbaum. wsj.com/world/americas…

You know who else ran on never running a deficit? Yes, Stephen Harper, who ran deficits every year, after blowing through the surpluses left him by Chretien and Martin.
Scott Robertson@sarobertsonca

Pierre Poilievre on the deficit: "Let's figure out how big a mess the Liberals have made, and then I can tell you how long it will take me to clean it up ... They should have a balanced budget all the time, except for in massive national emergencies."

@niccruzpatane Right. And at $0.391/kWh peak, you'd better be certain not to heat your home, water, or run appliances outside of the 11pm-7am window. Plus if everyone did this, expecting prices to remain low, the tariff would simply adjust. OEB is in the business of maintaining averaged income.

If you live in Ontario, Canada it honestly doesn’t make sense to drive anything else but an EV. It should be the only vehicle you should be considering right now. With the Ultra-Low Overnight plan you can charge for just $0.039 (CDN) per kWh before taxes and delivery. Besides using Solar, this is one of the cheapest electricity rates in the entire world. Charging an EV at home would be practically free compared to filling up gas in a comparable vehicle.
