The @AFLCIO continues to refuse our requests to meet and negotiate over pension equity. The largest federation of labor unions is giving Guild staff the cold shoulder and leaving lifelong, dedicated workers without a secure retirement.

For nearly a decade, we received no unit-wide COLA increase. With recent inflation, our members saw their real income fall by 19%. NINETEEN PERCENT! Yet, management is STILL demanding we give up our hard earned wages to get the same pension unfreeze they’re getting for free 🤔

A pension is a promise, @AFLCIO. It’s time to practice what you preach and unfreeze our pensions like you’re doing for our bosses. Pension equity NOW!

Today @AFLCIO guild staff started a leaflet education campaign to inform union community members about the pension inequity between executives and staff as management unfreezes 60% of its own pensions! The AFL-CIO should be setting the standard for how workers are treated.

AFL-CIO Guild members in DC Headquarters and in field locations across the country are sporting red today to show that even when we aren’t physically together, we’re still a united front in the fight for pension equity 💪

When AFL-CIO staff returned to the bargaining table for our most recent contract, we were seeking to remedy years of stagnant wages and a pension that had been frozen since 2014. 🧵
