Asura’s Wrath is what I always consider to be a case of “so gratuitous it cycles around to be peak.” The actual gameplay between these moments does leave a lot to be desired, but the game is so distinctively itself that you can’t help but be drawn in by it. It’s literally an entire anime in game form and manages to squeeze in some seriously compelling character work in between all its absurdly hype moments. I don’t like that it hid its true ending behind DLC, but as an entire package, if you’re missing the type of hype that you’d get from watching something from Manga Entertainment, like the anime Redline, this is your game. It also has the BEST line drop prior to finishing off a big bad in gaming.
