@rasmus_kleis The industry got rid of subs a while ago, it became clear that good reporting and good writing/storytelling are not necessarily skills that always go together. Could this open up more opportunity for those with a thirst for reporting but not storytelling.

@rasmus_kleis I often I wonder if one of the fractions of news reporting of the future will be just inputting the report and data to a model for chatbots directly, without going through the formatting and editing stage.

First Reuters deal with Meta on their AI chatbot Now AP deal with Google for Gemini and AFP with Mistral for Le Chat These deals make a lot of sense to me-agencies provide straight news reporting, not all the other stuff I don't think they mean most publishers can expect deals?

@sofiavictoriad Mildly related; another thing I’ve noticed is that if there’s a house/flat on the market for under £200k it’ll almost always be for sale under auction. Another way to price people out of affordable housing

@sarahmanavis “They could be reading on phones”. Sure, but majority ain’t reading books. Granted, I do read A LOT on my phone… articles, headlines, text messages, useless tweets, captions etc. Yes, we are reading… using up our reading energy on useless crap a lot of the time.

One thing I'll add – which is just my perspective rather than a data thing – is our reluctance to attribute this problem to phones does feel like an adult problem where we aren't doing enough to manage (or admit!) our own screen addiction, which is where I think this has to start

I 100% agree with the people citing things like library closures, issues with publishing, school curriculum etc in response to this, but – without wanting to oversimplify – I do think a large part of the answer is phones

@sarahmanavis My mum and I were discussing how we used to read a lot more and now we struggle to find books that will capture our attention. Phones and general life rhythm today affecting not just the new gen.

@STN_Airport Funny how the airline doesn’t do that at other airports. Maybe you shouldn’t allow people to wait on tarmacs and the airline would be forced to stop it.

Hey @Ryanair @STN_Airport when are you going to get real about the fact you make people go through the gate before the planes are ready. Every single time I have to freeze either outside or on drafty hellscapes. Also what’s with the hangar as a waiting area with no heating.

@aitchrobertson I had stint of about 10 weeks where i was very strict about lunch breaks, my food and leaving on time. It was hard work to stick to it but honestly I felt so fucking good and happy. I actually found it it easy to get up at stupid o’clock in the morning. Start with lunch breaks.
