I know I'm late to the party, but FYI "Project Hail Mary" is a really fun movie. We took our 9, 13, and 15 yo, and loved it. Not a remake, not a franchise, no political agendas, no sex scenes, no swearing I can remember. Some intensity. It was just a good story.

@ianharber JKR is actively using the funds she receives from Harry Potter to lobby and promote hate against trans people. Even if Lewis and Tolkien shared her views (I don’t believe either of them ever spoke on LGBTQ issues, but I know Tolkien was progressive for his time) they’re dead.

@LilCoteaux @bloodonacross It is actually that simple. His alleged acceptance of queer people is irreconcilable with the beliefs of the Mormon Church. If he really valued the lives of LGBTQ, he wouldn’t be giving 10% of his income to his church. People who value queer rights shouldn’t buy his books.

@bloodonacross I think it's a bit more complicated than that tbh. I'm not defending the church but I don't think people necessarily choose what to believe in, like me being an atheist isn't an active choice I just believe it. Same with me being nonbinary. It's not as easy as "leave your faith"

@norainthefuture So long as women are cast for trans woman characters and men for trans man characters I don’t see an issue with cis people playing trans roles. Plus I’m pretty sure Hunter Schafer doesn’t want to be exclusively cast in trans roles her whole life.
