@TkDodo @rickyfm @en_JS @acdlite (to clarify: the popularity of SPAs wasn't misjudged; what was is the prevalence of having a single Suspense boundary containing siblings that each initiate different async work — since you don't run into this if you initiate fetches earlier or if things are in one component)

Now I definitely need to blog about the React 19 changes around suspense and sibling pre-rendering. I haven't seen anyone so far apart from the react core team who thinks this is the right tradeoff. v19.0.0 isn't out yet so maybe there's a slim chance to get them to reconsider

What are the usual tells for you that an app is RN and not Swift/ObjC?

new from me: everyone is wrong about that slack flowchart systems are complicated if you make them complicated but you can also make them simple sophiebits.com/2024/10/30/eve…

@kefimochi people don't care that much about what title you had, it matters much more what responsibilities and work you did

@sebmarkbage have you considered that you might not have considered making it a cache() function?

@jdan yeah ok I think the formulas support is new but the variables themselves are only a convenience?

@jdan wait you can do this with lets() too right? or even without defining anything if you’re ok with slow

@lcamtuf great news, I just tested and this code already works perfectly today: long *x = (long *)malloc(sizeof("Enough memory to store up to 5 integers"));

I'm sick tired of people pushing their "memory-safe language" agenda when a viable solution is within reach.

I really like that I can ask cursor to find something / do "semantic search" in a completely new / unfamiliar codebase

@en_JS @Alekzv9 So statements like "it doesn't matter with v19" trigger me a bit because it feels like "we don't have to think about it and it'll just work" but without understanding the rules, that's not true.
