@HGold_author I hope they do, Hannah. The Last Bear was one of my and my son's favourite bedtime books last year - fabulous. And you are fabulously talented. :)

I have a horrific story to share. I sauteed broccoli for dinner with extended family. We were almost done. I was about to eat my last bite. And I saw a caterpillar. I went to the pan. More caterpillars. By then it was too late. So, I said nothing. I fed my family caterpillars 😭

Time is money. If it takes twice as long to do something you earn half as much. This is the brutal fact at the heart of Brexit. Let’s "Brexit" a £12.99 paperback, blow by blow, and see what difference leaving the single market has made.

Spaghetti Bolognese. You break the spaghetti before boiling right!? It boils better and is much easier to eat!

This. No funding, increasing need, no special school places, routes to diagnosis and assessment blocked or with extreme waits leading to school just being left to manage without the funding. School’s increasingly having very little choice and those that are inclusive hit hardest

Could anyone point me in the direction of advice for staff in managing self-harm in primary age children?

@PookyH What it takes is providing a variety of school structures for those who struggle with MS, intentionally improving CAMHs and giving professionals time to invest in keeping children in schools that work for them. Curriculum has been prioritised over community, ethos and inclusion.

This week, questions from @CommonsEd asked how we spot kids ‘crying wolf’ with mental health challenges around attendance. This 2nd Attendance Inquiry session was held during #mentalhealthawarenessweek2023 with this year’s focus on Anxiety.
Steve Chalke@SteveChalke

When a child has a physical illness we get exactly why it might be impossible for them to be in school. But when their issue is mental health, instead of understanding their struggle, society assumes they’re lazy & bunking off, and accuses them of being ‘school refusers’. Why?

There's been a disastrous loss of experienced teachers from the profession and not enough people are aware of it, or talking about it. Even more worrying, not enough is being done to stop the over-50s leaving. @heymrshallahan deep dives into the data tes.com/magazine/analy…

Wonderful book community - can anyone recommend any amazing authors who do school visits as my school in Cheshire is very eager to boost a love of reading. I know there are heaps of amazing authors out there who do BRILLIANT visits but thought I'd ask ❤️📚

I’m seeing quite a lot of people on here implying or even overtly stating that making reasonable adjustments for children with SEND is somehow wrong, lowering teacher expectations and unfair. Just because you can’t see a disability it doesn’t mean it’s not there. What I’m reading

Today son was the victim of a 3rd antisemitic attack in almost as many months. "I'm walking to the bus stop. As I pass 2 men, 1 says 'shall we beat up some Jewish kids?', then they shout 'Jew' and then 'Auschwitz' at me. They start laughing. " What is the matter with people?

Today, Rishi Sunak is focusing on how we can get more teenagers to study maths for longer. Meanwhile: 780,000 children have been referred for mental health support. 250,000 of them have been refused. 22% of school pupils are "persistent absentees". There's the maths crisis.
