Government pensions are a scam. Younger workers are paying more and more to fund a system that is mathematically impossible to sustain. Would you scrap the triple lock?

Children’s futures are more important than those of pensioners. This should be very basic to even unintelligent life forms.

@spongebobsbobby @agw1437 Ah yes, imagine a child whose family know nothing about university and who is only pushed into one thing because he’s smart and calling him gullible. Fine, old people are gullible too, what’s their excuse?

When it comes to pensioners, ignorance of how things work excuses them from the consequences, but when a young person talks about how they were conned into going to uni and getting into debt, with almost zero returns on the investment, it’s our fault and we need to suck it up.
Arron Banks@Arron_banks

We need to look after our elderly, they paid vast amounts of NI & no one told them it was a political Ponzi scheme. This country needs to cut regulation to the bone, reduce the size of the state & go after the 8 million on benefits.

Boomers cannot even pretend to care about young people. They will rob us blind and then be outraged if we even object, gaslighting us that everything is better now when it’s only better for them.

It’s funny seeing pensioners raging about the “politics of envy” when they’re getting upset that money they haven’t earned might go to, say, children instead of them.

Dear boomers, can you afford to buy the house you live in currently with the wage you used to earn before you retired? If you can’t, then that’s the whole housing problem in a nutshell. It really is that simple to understand.

@agw1437 And I’m sorry, but when you went to a school that was in the bottom 10% of schools in the country, you grew up around people who knew nothing about academia, and you’re told uni is your only way out of poverty, what was I supposed to do?

Be wary of those pushing the defeatist line ‘if you are in your 20s and 30s you can forget about ever getting a state pension’. Because it’s our job to make sure that the state pension is NEVER abolished (or indeed ‘means-tested’). Those pushing the defeatist line are actually doing the job of those who do want the state pension to be scrapped.

The National Living Wage is right now, £12.21 per hour. In a 35 hour week you will earn £427.35 so in a year it’s £22,222 Presumably they call it a living wage because that gives you enough to live on. A pensioner gets £10,000 less than that. Greedy blighters.

A Scottish Labour MSP Colin Smyth has been arrested and charged over possession of indecent images of children. The 52-year-old, who has represented South Scotland since 2016, was arrested at a property in Dumfries earlier this month. Smyth has been suspended by Scottish Labour and is now listed as an independent on the parliament website. He made a 'Toilet spycam' bagged over £37500 in just six months despite missing 600 votes

Triple lock- pensioners Paid in vs paid out. 😑 What’s sad is my generation and below probably won’t even see it. They’ll be no money left to pay out.
Joe Reeve - 🇬🇧/acc@isnit0

@tomhfh So this is a more fair comparison I think. It's inflation adjusted, and includes the per person healthcare costs that were initially intended to be paid for by NI. Obviously healthcare costs now come from many other places, including income tax.

As it appears to be pensioner bashing weekend and pensioners seem to be the ones wholly responsible for the dire economic state of the country, I thought I'd apprise you all of some facts and figures. Between April 2024 and March 2025, the cost of keeping asylum seekers in hotels was £2.1 billion. In 2023, £15.3 billion was spent on foreign aid. As of August 2025, there were 740,000 people aged between 16 and 24 years old receiving Universal Credit. The benefits bill for people aged between 16 and 64 in 2024/25 was £123 billion. In this decade (2020s), our annual net zero transition costs are estimated to be £125 billion. UK quangos cost the taxpayers between £376 - 391 billion per year (2023/4 figures). MPs' expenses (not salaries) are in the region of £130 - 150 million a year. The UK has committed to give the European Space Agency £1.84 billion for the period 2022/27. Since 2022, the UK has committed to give Ukraine £21.8 billion. The UK continues to give money to the EU under the Brexit divorce. As at March 2024, there is still £6.4 billion outstanding. 'Free breakfasts' in schools cost the UK taxpayers an estimated 1 billion per year. I'm sure I could go on. But it's just too depressing. The spending is out of all control, and rising. The interest on our national debt rises daily. And we're governed by socialists who love spending everyone's money but their own. As do all governments and councils. But, of course, it's all the fault of old age pensioners. Rolls eyes. A lot. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Our issue is with the triple lock. It was widely understood by experts, policymakers, and its creators to be a temporary measure intended to run for a limited period, rather than a permanent fixture of the UK pension. No other group has this level of security or will have this security when it comes to their pension age. In an ideal world we would love for them to have it, but young people aren’t seeing any meaningful wage increase vs cost of living, they suffer with home insecurity leading to a drop in birth rates and crippling university fees…. When will younger generations be looked after or considered for anything ???
