Ten year ago tonight into the early morning of the next day. This would be my last time seeing him alive. Prince flew me out to Paisley Park for it. Other people, other professionals should have been flown out either with or instead of. I told him in email that he doesn't need to fly me out unless he needs me there. I always told him, "if U need me, I'll be there." So he felt he needed me there. So I do have this tremendous guilt that professionals should have been called. We didnt talk that night. We saw each other n that was it. Was talking to him going to help him? I doubt it but I don't know. I was told over & over, it was the flu. When I got there, his people didnt know he flew me out. How does that happen? That was the only time I suspected anything. I just never suspected that this would be my last time seeing him. :( For those who knew me as a kid and through my life, I was a fan of his almost since birth. In junior high school, I was looking for ways to promote him. People would say U will work for him one day. That was never my goal, but it happened. I helped in fan ways and later, I helped in a broader capacity. I always downplayed my involvement and now I see that as a mistake. Nevertheless, this man who was an important part of my life is no longer here. I'm just grateful I knew him in some capacity. The 7 year old me or the teenage me would never believe it. I haven't really been able to sleep. I hope that changes as this is going to be a start of a rough week. For any fans, I'm sorry if I let U down. much Love. @DaveBuzan I just posted a short article on seeing Rocky III when it first released. If you go to my profile you'll see it. You might find it kinda fun.

The six ROCKY films are cinematic holy ground for me, so it's a huge event in my life when an expanded Bill Conti score from the series is released. And while ROCKY III is my own favorite of the films, ROCKY II is my favorite of the six scores. (I immediately threw on the CD and blasted the "Get Up!!" cue so I could perfectly imitate the full and unbearable slo-mo referee countdown: "1.......2......") For me, the rousing opening fanfare in the ROCKY films is as important a piece of music as the gunbarrel sequence from a Bond picture. Here, Conti builds upon his original theme with tremendous power and emotion...and that's just the opening minute of the picture. The centerpiece of ROCKY II is the magnificent "Conquest," a true blood-and-guts powerhouse cue that evokes ring gladiators and the indomitable spirit of champions. ROCKY II is film music at its finest, and Bill Conti at his best. Thank you @IntradaCDs for this truly historic release!

Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull was a flawed masterpiece and even more relevant with the UFO issue today than ever. I never understood the criticisms. George Lucas gave audiences exactly what he promised and was authentic to the genre and time-period.

I really miss Drew. I grew up with his art, and honestly, those absolutely incredible posters advertising new releases at the theater entrances were the main reason I fell in love with those ’80s movies. Indiana Jones through the years. This is “Shards of History.”

John Carpenter on whether "Escape From New York" (1981) holds up after so many decades: "I can’t watch it because I’m too critical of the things I’ve done. Once the movie’s cut together and I’ve seen the print, that’s it. I don’t want to look at it again. Because it’s over. Kurt’s character, Snake Plissken, has lived in memory, and in the culture, and is extremely strong. And the cast and the acting in the movie is extremely strong. And the fun of it — the movie is just a silly adventure in the future, but it’s fun. It’s dark and fun. And that’s lived on, so I’m really proud of the film. I’m really happy about it." Louis L'Amour on what Hollywood did to his stories: "How The West Was Won was quite well done–there were some places I would have retouched it a little bit–and I had several others that were, but by and large, I did not like what they did. The difficulty often is that you get an eastern man, who has no knowledge of the West, and he tries to do a western the way you would an eastern, and it doesn’t work. The western man was a different caliber of man entirely. That’s the main trouble with the westerns that they’ve made lately is that they were made by people who don’t understand the West and have no real background in it, and consequently they don’t come off. They don’t quite make the grade. I had a couple of movies done by an Englishman who had a good feeling for the West. Shalako just missed. They cast Bridgette Bardot as the girl in it, largely because she was a big draw. And she was wrong for it. Sean Connery did the lead very, very well. Then there was the picture called Catlow, with Yul Brynner and Richard Crenna, which I enjoyed. Heller in Pink Tights, with Sophia Loren and Anthony Quinn–great cast, just missed. And it missed through no fault of anybody on the picture except the company. The company that was making it decided that they had spent enough money on it and they were going to stop right there."
