@Serotonin_Ronin Just old TSR’ers thinking we owe them something and not advancing their attitudes past 1960.
English

@tabletopalmanac A bit out of the Twitter loop so appreciate a heads up if there's grognards being chuds I can block or unfollow

@Cup_of_TViv @Where_Am_I_52 @threelinestudio That’s where you’re wrong. Woke fascism communists will put you in rewokeification camps if you don’t use it. Suggestions and guidelines are mandatory if mentioned, unlike in old D&D.
They’ll also burn your Mage: the Ascension 2E books, but that’s besides the point.
English

@Where_Am_I_52 @tabletopalmanac @threelinestudio Meanwhile Robert is getting pissy about how people play a game he was involved in 50 years ago. You know you don't have to use these measures, they're just I'm the book as a suggestion? Like, they don't send the TTRPG police to your house to enforce it.
English

@MPJulian @CarbonWater79 “Rules for thee but not for me” is the usual conservative motto.
English

@CarbonWater79 That is the case in every job I’ve had- white collar and blue collar- factory, refinery- even at the brewery you couldn’t show up drunk.
English

@flburnsgm @bignothingman @WizardGoesBoom Oh noes pronouns. Better go shit myself. Centrists are cowards.
You also have no idea what talking in circles is — I’ve been pretty much on a linear path. You all keep coming back to “they’re forcing me to use a suggestion!”
English

In 40+ years of being a DM and a player, I’ve never had anyone object to my content nor objected to anyone else’s. What kind of extreme game are they playing these days if they need “safe words”?
Kyle Mann@The_Kyle_Mann
Had to see it for myself. It's true: the new edition of the D&D Dungeon Master's Guide encourages players to raise their arms in an "X" if they are triggered by any in-game content.
English

@bignothingman @flburnsgm @WizardGoesBoom Uh, yeah, they don’t say “just deal with it.” This is about ways to resolve rather than just say “deal with it.”
English

@tabletopalmanac @flburnsgm @WizardGoesBoom point to where the old books forced you to not do this, or where they DIDNT give options to resolve this situation. The DMGs of every edition gave advice on how to deal with things people dont like, and they never said everyone has to just deal with it lol.
English

@tabletopalmanac @flburnsgm @WizardGoesBoom controling others, the same thing people like that always complain about, and what they always do.
English

@bignothingman @flburnsgm @WizardGoesBoom If you didn’t get all in a tizzy when a rulebook gives a suggestion on how to table manage, we wouldn’t even need this discussion.
English

@tabletopalmanac @flburnsgm @WizardGoesBoom what is this even trying to imply? if you were just honest you would get more done in your discussions
English

@bignothingman @flburnsgm @WizardGoesBoom Point to where the big bad book forces you to do this, rather than suggests that, if you encounter something like that, here are some methods to resolve the situation.
English

@tabletopalmanac @flburnsgm @WizardGoesBoom if you have to try and force the entire community to coddle you instead of you just being upfront about what you dont like and searching around for a game that agrees to do it your way...and you refuse to be a DM and do it your way...that's littearly you choosing not to enjoy it
English

@flburnsgm @bignothingman @WizardGoesBoom Well of course I agree. That doesn’t change the fact that this sort of thing happens.
English

@tabletopalmanac @flburnsgm @WizardGoesBoom and singular examples are not representative of a whole. Most people and most situations where this sort of thing is pushed is virtue signaling, yes.
English

@flburnsgm @tabletopalmanac @WizardGoesBoom you forgot it's also exagerated so that they can feel good about themselves and gate keep anyone they dont like for other reasons away :p
English

@bignothingman @WizardGoesBoom What about a newcomer who has no idea they need to dodge that bullet?
Also this bbc.com/news/uk-englan…
English

@tabletopalmanac @WizardGoesBoom Yes I think saying "I'm not ok with sa or slavery, will this game include" is perfectly fine.
Most video game RPGs do
English

@bignothingman @WizardGoesBoom And should know they need to ask that? Don’t make me bring up the UKGE Tales from the Loop game.
English

@bignothingman @WizardGoesBoom You disagree and think a newcomer should ask “do people get raped in this game? Including my PC by other PCs? I’m not ok with that.”
